Oklahoma City's Top 3 Golf Courses

Like many U.S. cities Oklahoma City has an abundance of fun things to do.  It offers great parks, outdoor activities, some of the best restaurants in the state, and of course, golf courses.  They range from inexpensive public courses to more sophisticated private clubs.  Let's take a look at three of OKC's finest: Quail Creek Golf & Country Club, Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, and Lake Hefner Golf Club.

Quail Creek

It is a private golf facility in Oklahoma. It was designed by Floyd Parley. Its vision was that of the developer, John W. Johnston.
This golf club was designed and organized to provide the ultimate in club facilities and services. In November 1999, it was renovated; providing the membership a beautiful, distinctive and challenging golf environment.

Important tournaments which have been hosted at Quail Creek include:
1962-67- Oklahoma City Open.
1987-Silver Pages Classic.
1988-90- South-western Bell Classic.

Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club

The next club is found in Oklahoma (Nichols Hills). It was established in 1911 and designed by Perry Maxwell. The golf course contains tree-lined fairways around the rolling hills.

They offer fine dining in the members club. Moreover, they also provide excellent meeting venues for civic and cultural activities.

The Golf Club at Lake Hefner

This golf club is located in Oklahoma City. Some of the challenges of the golf course are greens, dotted by water hazards as well as bunkered fairways. Though to some golfers they state it’s a nightmare.

Things for The Family To Do While You're Golfing

There are important attractions to view. Oklahoma route 66 Museum is a place to be for sightseeing. They have a motor head bent. Such as drive-ins, motorcycle museums and old-timey filling stations.

Another site to behold is Oklahoma City Zoo. It has nurtured 500 species of animals. That includes some endangered as well as a garden landscape.

Furthermore, their university is home to many tourist attractions as well as strong sports programs. A landmark to behold is the Bizzell Memorial Library. This dates back to 1929.

An important landmark is the Oklahoma City National Memorial. The 1995 bombing is one such case; which recounts the tragic events felt across the nation. It operates on a 24 hour basis.

In conclusion, these golf clubs tend to have high ratings. Oklahoma isn't typically mentioned when on thinks of famous courses, but the weather makes for good golfing practically year round.  They city has produced great players and great courses. Such as Gill Morgan, Mark Hayes, Doug Tewell etc. Good players demand good courses and vice versa.
