Being accused of a sex crime against a minor is one of the most serious criminal accusations a person can face. It is important for anyone accused to quickly find a lewd acts lawyer in Oklahoma who can help protect the defendant's rights. Over the last few days, at least four Oklahomans have been arrested following accusations of sex crimes against minor children. In the unrelated cases, one woman and three men were arrested for lewd acts with minors or indecent proposals to minors with victims ranging in age from 10 to 15 years old. Late Monday evening, James Leslie Benbury, 47, was arrested in Oklahoma City after a 13-year-old boy told his mother that Benbury drove by and propositioned him for a sex act. According to the boy, the man drove by the house several times around 10:00 p.m. Monday night before propositioning him. The boy and his mother then got in a car and followed the man to a shopping center, notifying police of the suspect's whereabouts. Benbury was arrested on a complaint of lewd or indecent acts to a child and held in the Oklahoma County Jail on $2,000 bond. Tuesday saw two arrests for lewd acts in Oklahoma. In one case, a former Stroud kindergarten teacher and cheerleading coach was arrested following complaints of an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl. Mandi Layne Guerrero, 34, turned herself in to the Lincoln County Jail after a warrant was placed for her arrest. She was arrested on a complaint of lewd or indecent acts or proposals to a child under 16. According to news reports, Stroud police were informed of the alleged relationship between Guerrero and the teen in April. Also on Tuesday, a man was arrested after being accused of molesting a 10-year-old friend of his daughter during a sleepover. Jason Henry Brock, 39, was arrested in Tulsa after allegedly touching the girl under her clothes while she slept. The girl says that she woke up during the assault, but pretended to remain asleep. When she pretended to wake up, Brock stopped touching her. Police say the girl told her friend, Brock's daughter, who reported the assault to her grandmother. Allegedly, the grandmother decided to stage an "intervention," having the alleged victim confront Brock, who then allegedly confessed to molestation and apologized to the girl. The victim's mother was not aware of the assault until after the "intervention." Brock was arrested on a complaint of raping a minor by instrumentation, and his bail was set at $25,000. On Wednesday, another Tulsa County man was arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old friend of his daughter. Kent Wade Norris, 34, of Owasso, was arrested after the girl told her mother that Norris took inappropriate photographs of her when she went to his house to visit her friend, who was not home at the time. The girl said that Norris wanted to take "weird" photos of her with her hands behind her head and on her knees, and later convinced her to take off her clothes and get under a blanket so he could photograph her beneath the blanket. Norris was arrested on complaints of making a lewd proposal to a minor and soliciting to perform lewd acts with a minor. He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail with bail set at $55,000.
